Lady Eagles Unable To Hold Onto Lead

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks women's soccer team took a 1-0 halftime lead, but couldn't hold onto it as Lyon College scored late in the second half and added another goal in the second overtime period to take a 2-1 victory in non-conference play on Tuesday at Batesville.

Ozarks (0-9-0, 0-4-0) took a 1-0 advantage behind Esmeralda Resendez’s goal in the 37th minute. It was Resendez’s first score of the season. Kate Schoenhals received the assist. Lyon (1-7-0) would tie the match in the 71st minute when Allison Morrison scored. The match would remain 1-1 at the end of regulation and in the first ten-minute overtime period before Morrison struck again for the game-winner with seven minutes left in the second overtime. ????? Ozarks tallied six shots. Carter and Schoenhals had two shots apiece. Goalkeeper Jessica Falls had four saves. Ozarks will travel to Clinton, Mississippi, to face Mississippi College on October 7 and Pineville, Louisiana, to face Louisiana College on October 8 in American Southwest Conference play.
