Lady Eagles Suffer Game One Loss; No-Hit In Nightcap

Pineville, La.-Louisiana College broke a 5-5 tie in the fifth to earn a 8-5 game one win and then no-hit the Lady Eagles in a 8-0 game two win.

In game one, Ozarks (7-9, 2-4 ASC) took an early 1-0 lead after Kelsey Stephens delivered an RBI single to score Ali Mathis. Mathis reached on a double in the game’s first at-bat. Louisiana College (13-1, 4-0 ASC) responded with a five-run second inning behind five hits. Ozarks countered with a two-run third inning to pull within 5-3. Stephens again produced an RBI single for the Lady Eagles. Inning four saw Ozarks add two more runs to even the contest at 5-5. Meghan Smith had an RBI and on the same play Brittany Wagnon crossed the plate on an infield error. But the Lady Wildcats answered with the go-ahead run in the fifth to secure the game.

Stephens led Ozarks at the plate with a 3-for-4, 2-RBI performance. Smith and Heather Roberts collected two hits.

Amber Rollins (6-5) suffered the loss.

In game two, Louisiana College starter Leslie Eastham (3-0) tossed a no-hitter in a shutout victory. Eastham struck out four and issued two walks.

Rollins took the loss.

Ozarks will conclude its series with Louisiana College tomorrow in a double-header starting at noon.
