Alpine, Texas-The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 33-17 halftime lead and cruised to a 66-42 win over Sul Ross State University in their American Southwest Conference opener Saturday in Alpine, Texas.

Eight different players scored for Ozarks (3-1, 1-0 ASC) in the first half, which saw the Lady Eagles grab 25 rebounds, including 19 on the defensive end. Sul Ross (1-2, 0-1 ASC) scored the first points of the game, but a Lacey Phillips three-pointer gave Ozarks a lead it would never relinquish. With the Lady Lobos struggling from the three-point line (1-of-11), Ozarks built a double-digit advantage with four minutes remaining in the half. From that point, Ozarks outscored Sul Ross 10-5 to close out the half. Sabrina Goddard paced Ozarks with 15 points in the half.

Goddard would score the first four points of the second half to help Ozarks build a 37-19 lead. An Ashley Barry shot at the 10:27 mark of the second half, put Ozarks ahead by 21 points, a lead that never dipped below 20 points the rest of the way.

Goddard finished with 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field. Phillips added 10 points.

Ozarks outrebounded Sul Ross 51-35.

Ozarks will play at Howard Payne University Monday night.
