Lady Eagles Split With Ouachita Baptist

Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O Lady Eagles (5-5, 2-2) softball team split with Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia March 12.

The Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Tigers 8-3 in the second game, but dropped a narrow 1-0 decision in the first game. It was the second time the two teams split this season. Ozarks will travel to Longview, Texas, to play LeTourneau University March 21-22. The Lady Eagles then play a double-header at home against Westminister College March 24 beginning at 2 p.m. Ouachita needed only one run to defeat the Lady Eagles in the first game of their double-header. The Lady Tigers scored the lone run of the game in the second inning, proving to be the game winner. The Lady Eagles were unable to get their offense going as they recorded only two hits. Pitcher Amanda Luney (2-3) held Ouachita to only four hits and received the loss. The Lady Eagles picked up the pace early in the second game, scoring four runs in the first inning. Amie Jondro, Leigh Thompson, Brandi Blake and Kelly Bennett each recorded hits in the first inning of play. The Lady Eagles would score three more runs in the fourth inning after Thompson knocked in Jondro and Shannon Rainbolt. Blake recorded the third RBI of the inning after Jamie Johnson scored. Blake (3-2) picked up the win.
