Lady Eagles Split With No. 13 ETBU Saturday

Clarksville, Ark.-Amber Rollins threw a four-hitter and Molly Bowman collected three hits to give the Lady Eagles a split Saturday afternoon against No. 13 East Texas Baptist University in American Southwest Conference play.

Led by Rollins and Bowman, Ozarks (11-21, 4-16 ASC) took a 5-3 game one win. The Lady Eagles dropped game two 9-0 in five innings.

Rollins had a no-hitter through four and two-third innings and Ozarks’ offense recorded eight hits through four complete innings. The Lady Eagles got things rolling in the third scoring three runs on five hits. Rollins and Sheridan Barajas each had RBI in the frame.

In the fifth, Shawnee Sorensen was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give Ozarks a 4-0 lead. Bowman then had an infield RBI single for a 5-0 advantage. East Texas Baptist (25-7, 13-3 ASC) answered with three runs with two outs in the fifth. Rollins worked around a pair of runners in the scoring position in the sixth and then fanned Alyssa Romero to end the game in the seventh.

Bowman finished 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Barajas went 2-for-3.

Rollins (8-7) received the win.

It was just the second win over East Texas Baptist University in program history. The Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Tigers in 2008.

Ozarks then ran into the tough pitching of Shelby Parker, who had a perfect game going through four complete innings, in a game two loss. Arel Ferguson broke up the perfect game in the top of the fifth with a clean single to left field.

Ozarks spotted ETBU three runs in the first inning and then scored six more in the fifth, while
Parker allowed just one hit in the contest. Tabitha McClane (2-7) took the loss.

Ozarks will travel to Hendrix College April 9.
