Clarksville, Ark.-The Lady Eagles took a 10-1 win over Sul Ross State, but then suffered a 4-0 loss against Concordia University Texas Saturday at the American Southwest Conference First Pitch Tournament in Farmers Branch, Texas.

In game one against Sul Ross State (0-9), Ozarks (3-7) opened the game with two runs in the top of the first on two hits. Sul Ross didn’t help itself as it committed two errors in the opening inning. Sul Ross did generate one run in the bottom half of the inning to trim the deficit to 2-1. But that would be all the Lady Lobos would score on starter Kelsey Mefford. Mefford helped her own cause in the second when she drew a bases loaded walk to put Ozarks ahead 3-1. The Lady Eagles then put the game out of reach in the fifth by scoring five runs on just two hits. The Lady Lobos committed two errors in that inning. Ozarks added two more runs in the fifth on four hits. Colbey Russo and Molly Bowman each had RBI in the frame.

Bowman finished 2-for-4 with 3 RBI. Russo went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Mefford (3-1) received the win in five innings of work. She allowed just one run and struck out four.

In game two, Concordia (7-5) threw a three-hit shutout, but led just 1-0 after four innings. The Tornados’ offense generated three runs in the sixth to pull ahead 4-0. Ali Mathis finished 2-for-3 for Ozarks.
