Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks women's soccer team welcomed four freshmen to the squad Wednesday as it opened practice.
Ozarks finished last season with a 5-14-0 overall record and a will look to the freshmen class to improve upon their 4-9-0 conference mark. The Lady Eagles were picked 11th in the American Southwest Conference preseason poll announced this week.
Head coach Bryan Drotar has been pleased with the Lady Eagles’ efforts early on.
“The first two days of training have been exciting,” said Drotar. “The ladies worked hard during the summer and were in shape when they reported. That has been a big difference over the past two seasons. Their attitude has been great and they are having fun even though the sessions have been difficult. The challenge in front of us will be to mesh our four new freshmen with the team. Getting us tactically on the same page will be a challenge.”
The Lady Eagles open on the road against NCAA I UA-Pine Bluff September 1.
