Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O women?s soccer team defeated Williams Baptist College for the second time this season with a 5-1 victory Saturday afternoon.
Ozarks (4-2-0) took a 1-0 win over Williams Baptist (0-5-0) in its season-opener August 30 in Walnut Ridge. But this time the Lady Eagles looked much more impressive as they posted five goals and took 15 shots on frame. Vicky Romero scored twice Saturday, once in each half, to bring her goal total to ten this season, and Frances Adams and Monica Seiler each scored a goals and had assists. Romero’s first goal came in the 30th minute. Haley Gilliam then pushed the advantage to 2-0 in the 38th minute. Williams Baptist cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 51st minute on a penalty kick, but Romero answered with a goal just seconds later. Seiler and Adams scored in the 73rd and 89th minute, respectively.
Ozarks recorded 25 shots, with Romero tallying ten of those.
Codie Freeman had one save in the win.
The Lady Eagles will face Central Baptist College September 17 in Conway.
