Lady Eagles Open Season 5-0

Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O women's basketball team opened the season 5-0 for the first time since 1996-97 with a 93-49 blowout against Sul Ross State University Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference action.

The Lady Eagles (5-0, 1-0 ASC) had five players in double figures, including Ally Goddard, who came off the bench and drilled five three-pointers to score 17 points. Ozarks controlled the entire game as Sul Ross (0-4, 0-1 ASC) cut the deficit under 20 points only once in the second half. The teams combined for 37 three-point attempts in the first half, with Ally Goddard and Lacey Phillips each making two apiece. Ozarks’ first double-digit lead came at the 14:01 mark when Sabrina Goddard hit a jumper to give the Lady Eagles a 15-4 advantage. The Lady Eagles later had a 26-7 lead after a Phillips’ bucket with 8:31 remaining. An Ally Goddard three-pointer with 14 seconds left in the half gave Ozarks a 41-23 lead at intermission.

A Serena Clokey three-pointer in the second half gave Ozarks its first 30-point lead on the day at the 12:27 mark. Sabrina Goddard’s inside jumper made it 86-46 with less than three minutes remaining in the game.

Sabrina Goddard had 21 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks. Ally Goddard finished 5-for-7 from long range and had four assists. Phillips ended the game with 14 points and Chelsea Glasscock had 12 points.

Ozarks will host Howard Payne University Monday night.
