Clarksville, Ark.-The Lady Eagle softball team is off to a 4-0 start and have been impressive in each of their wins.

On February 7, the Lady Eagles swept Hendrix College, winning the first game 16-0 and the second game 16-1. The Lady Eagles pounded out a combined 31 hits in the two road wins. Junior Leah Thompson was a combined 6-of-7 from the plate and had 7 runs batted in. She also hit the only home run in the double-header. “We’ve been hitting the ball real well,” said head coach Jon Janssen. “We’ve also been able to stick to our game plan by being aggressive on the bases. Amanda Luney and Jane Smith each had two fine outings. Amanda has been dominate on the mound and that’s indicative of the hard work she’s done over the summer and in the preseason.” On February 15, the Lady Eagles blanked University of Dallas 10-0 in the first game and won 19-15 in the second game. Kayci Rockwell led the Lady Eagles with 6 hits over the two game span. Freshman Wendy Springer and sophomore Amanda Luney each recorded five hits apiece. Smith and Luney each picked up a win apiece. Luney and Jane Smith are now both 2-0 on the mound after the four victories.
