Clarksville, Ark.-The Lady Eagles softball team swept Westminster College in a non-conference double-header on Saturday afternoon in Fulton, Missouri.
The Lady Eagles (4-0) pounded out 11 hits and allowed only two runs in their 6-2 victory over the Lady Blue Jays (0-2) in the first game of their double-header. Ozarks held a 3-2 advantage after four innings of play behind an RBI bunt by Jodie Clark and an RBI double by Shannon Rainbolt in the top of the fourth. The Lady Eagles would add one run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth. Rainbolt and Jamie Johnson crossed the plate in the sixth to give Ozarks a comfortable 6-2 lead. Erica Newell led the squad with 3 hits. Amanda Luney (2-0) picked up the win after pitching a complete game and striking out 5. The Lady Eagles blanked Westminster 8-0 in the second game to give Ozarks their fourth straight win of the season. The Lady Eagles scored two runs in the second and third innings and held a 4-0 lead going into the seventh inning. Ozarks would rip Westminster for four runs in the top of the seventh inning as Johnson, Devon Bottoms, Kayla Reedy and Jeanne Randall scored. Clark had a team-best 2 hits. Clark and Randall each had 2 RBI apiece. Freshman right-hander Chanceree Catlett (2-0) received the win after recording 6 strikeouts in seven innings of work.
