Longview, Texas-The University of the Ozarks women?s soccer team posted its first American Southwest Conference victory of the season with a 4-0 win over LeTourneau University Saturday in Longview, Texas.
Ozarks (6-8-0, 1-4-0 ASC) scored three of its four goals in the first half to force LeTourneau (1-13-0, 0-5-0 ASC) into a big second half deficit. Hannah Carter scored her first goal of the season in the 15th minute to put the Lady Eagles in front 1-0. Haley Gilliam followed with a goal in the 28th minute and Vicky Romero scored her eleventh goal of the season in the 38th minute. With a 3-0 advantage, Romero added the match’s final goal in the 61st minute after beating the goalkeeper one-on-one.
Ozarks recorded 15 shots in the match with Kanisha Eckart tallying four of her own. Codie Freeman had one save in goal for Ozarks.
Ozarks will host Concordia University Texas October 17 and Mary Hardin-Baylor October 19. Saturday’s match is designated as “Senior Day” for both the Lady Eagles and Eagles.
