Clarksville, Ark.-The Lady Eagles softball team went 2-2 at the American Southwest Conference crossover tournament on Friday and Saturday in Irving, Texas.

The Lady Eagles (10-2, 2-2) defeated Howard Payne 10-3 on Friday and Sul Ross State 10-7 on Saturday. The Lady Eagles lost 12-1 to Mary Hardin Baylor on Friday and 6-3 to Schreiner on Saturday. "We beat ourselves in our two loses," said head coach Jon Janssen. "Offensively we are getting it done, but we are hurting ourselves on defensive. We just had too many errors." Amanda Luney picked up the win against Howard Payne. Regan Brown, Leigh Thompson and Luney each recorded two hits in the victory. "Against Howard Payne, we jumped on them real quick," said Janssen. "We scored 5 runs in the first inning. We hit the ball real well." Janae Smith earned the win against Schreiner. Smith had four strikeouts in seven innings of work. Shannon Rainbolt led Ozarks with 4 hits. Brown, Thompson, Luney and Kelly Bennett each had two hits. U of O will take on East Texas Baptist on March 15 and 16 in Marshall, Texas. "I think we match up well with them," said Janssen. "I expect this game and our remaining conference games to be dog fights. We need to buckle down against ETBU and hit the ball well in order to get some wins."
