Lady Eagles Gain Ground In Playoff Race With Win Over ETBU

Clarksville, Ark.-The Lady Eagles (10-12, 4-5) used a dominating first half performance to remain in the hunt for an American Southwest Conference tournament appearance with a 80-63 win over East Texas Baptist on Thursday night.

The Lady Eagles put forth an impressive offensive performance in the first half and led 46-25 at intermission. Ozarks had three players score in double figures at halftime. "We played with a lot of intensity and determination tonight," said head coach Jack Jones. "We came out from the start and hit our shots and we were able to keep our turnovers down throughout the game. I can’t remember any ballgame this year where we’ve only had nine turnovers. " Junior forward Jenna Corbell of Ashdown had a team-best 23 points and 12 rebounds. Senior guard Kristy Watts of Waldron added 21 points on 3-of-6 shooting from the three-point line. Junior forward Jennifer Goodwin of Ozark had 10 points. The Lady Eagles out rebounded East Texas Baptist 53-41 in the game. The Lady Eagles have are now 16-2 at home the last three years against ASC East Division opponents. "Jenna Corbell had a double-double tonight and she wasn’t even full strength," said Jones. "Kristy Watts also made some shots and we had other players off the bench step up and make an impact." Ozarks will play host to LeTourneau University in their Homecoming game on Saturday. Game times set for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
