Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks Lady Eagles hosted its first NCAA I opponent in program history Wednesday and took a 5-1 setback against UA-Pine Bluff.
The Lady Lions (1-2-0), members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, took a 1-0 lead after netting a goal in the 14th minute. UA-Pine Bluff then added back-to-back goals within four minutes of each other to build a 3-0 halftime advantage. The Lady Lions made it 5-0 after quick goals to open the second half. Ozarks (1-3-0) did score a goal against the Lady Lions’ defense in the 54th minute when Abby Kern knocked one past the goalkeeper off a corner kick. Alex Cannon received the assist.
UA-Pine Bluff recorded 20 shots, while the Lady Eagles posted four.
Mary Eoff had ten saves.
Ozarks will host Hendrix College September 12 at 5:00 pm.
