Lady Eagles Fall In Season-Opener

Clarksville, Ark.-John Carroll University (Ohio) took a 80-64 victory over the University of the Ozarks women's basketball team in the North Central College tournament in Naperville, Illinois on Friday.

<#IMAGE:1#>Ozarks (0-1, 0-0) had trouble from the field, hitting only 22-of-79 (27%) on the day. John Carroll, however, hit 52 percent of their shots, including 57 percent in the first half. The Lady Eagles trailed 44-35 at halftime, but would cut the deficit to 5 points early in the second half when Mandi Carter hit a jumper. John Carroll (1-0, 0-0) then reeled off 16 straight points as Ozarks went scoreless over the next four minutes. The Lady Eagles had three players in double figures, with Jeanne Randall scoring a team-best 18 points. Carter had a 17-point effort and Erica Eneks scored 14 points. Lindsey Nietert had a team-best 9 rebounds. Ozarks hit 16-of-21 (76%) from the free throw line, but were out rebounded 57-37. The Lady Eagles will face either North Central College or Hamilton College tomorrow.
