Lady Eagles End With Overtime Tie

Clarksville, Ark.-LeTourneau University scored in the 71st minute, but the Lady Eagles answered with a goal in the 77th minute only to end the match with a 1-1 double overtime tie Thursday in American Southwest Conference play.

Both teams remained winless after the tie. LeTourneau (0-12-1, 0-7-1 ASC) tallied six shots in the first half, while Ozarks (0-12-2, 0-7-2 ASC) took two shots. Ozarks had a better second half, recording seven shots and three corner kicks. Ozarks created an opportunity in the 57th minute when Kaitlyn Williams took a shot, but her attempt went wide. Trailing 1-0, Abby Kern took a rebound off Kristi Gordon’s corner kick in the 77th minute and put it past the keeper. Prior to LeTourneau’s first goal, Morgan O’Neil made a diving save in the 50th minute on Lauren Muniz’s shot.

Neither team was able to record a shot in overtime. O’Neil finished with seven saves. Williams had three shots. Each team totaled nine shots.

Ozarks will host East Texas Baptist University October 16. Kristi Gordon and Su San Low will be honored after Saturday’s game as a part of “Senior Day”.
