Clarksville, Ark.-The Lady Eagles dropped both games in the American Southwest Conference First Pitch tournament Saturday, losing to Schreiner University 6-0 in game one and then falling to Sul Ross State University 9-5 in game two.

Schreiner University’s pitching staff held the Ozarks’ bats to just two hits in the Mountaineers’ win.

Schreiner (6-2) scored a pair of runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings and the Lady Eagles (0-4) had trouble in the field committing seven errors. Ozarks got a pair of runners on in the fifth but couldn’t cash in.

Stephany Henson (0-2) took the loss and fanned eight in a complete game.

Ozarks held a 3-2 lead after three, but Sul Ross State (1-11) scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth and then fought off a late Ozarks’ rally in game two Saturday.

Trailing 2-0, the Lady Eagles opened the third with a Colbey Russo single. Danielle Dirks followed with another single to advance Russo to third. Kayla Harris then recorded a sacrifice fly to score Russo. Rebecca Groff and Julie Wilkinson later had RBI singles to give Ozarks a 3-2 advantage. With Sul Ross State leading 9-2, Ozarks got two runs in the top of the sixth, one on a Russo RBI single and the other on a RBI by Dirks.

Russo paced Ozarks at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance.

Kelsey Mefford (0-1) took the loss.
