Lady Eagles Drop Games To Louisiana College

Clarksville, Ark.-The U of O Lady Eagles (10-10, 5-7) softball team dropped four games to Louisiana College (21-1, 15-1) in American Southwest Conference action over the weekend.

The Lady Eagles were defeated 12-1 in the first game of the four-game series against the Lady Wildcats. Ozarks gathered only two hits while surrendering five runs in the first inning and six runs in the sixth inning. Leigh Thompson and Kelly Bennett recorded the Lady Eagles’ hits. Amanda Luney (5-5) received the loss. The Lady Eagles ended the second game with an 8-2 loss to the Lady Wildcats. Louisiana held an 8-0 lead in the final inning of play before Ozarks scored two runs on a Sarah Fielder two RBI double. Brandi Blake (5-5) received the loss. Thompson paced Ozarks with two hits. The third game of the series saw the Lady Eagles go down 3-1 in a hard fought contest. Ozarks recorded eight hits while Louisiana had ten hits in the game. A Shannon Rainbolt RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Ozarks their first run of the game. Luney received the loss. The Lady Eagles held a 4-3 advantage going into the final inning of play before Louisiana scored four unanswered runs in the top of the seventh to secure a 7-4 victory in the series finale. An RBI double by Devon Bottoms tied the game at 3-3 in the sixth inning. The Lady Eagles took the lead after an RBI single by Rainbolt. The Lady Eagles matched Louisiana in the hit column with seven hits apiece. Seven different players recorded hits for Ozarks. Blake received the loss. Ozarks will travel to Clinton, Mississippi, to face Mississippi College April 4 and 5.
