Lady Eagles Dominate Rhema & CBC

Clarksville, Ark.-The women's basketball teams were victorious over Rhema Bible College and Central Baptist College in recent non-conference games.

The Lady Eagles defeated Rhema Bible College 83-55 on November 19 in their home opener. Junior post Mandy Thomas led U of O with a career high 32 points. Thomas hit 11 of 14 field goal attempts and 10 of 15 from the free throw line. She also had 10 rebounds. This marks the first double-double this season for Thomas. Ozarks outscored Rhema 45-27 in the second half and limited Rhema to 9 of 24 shooting from the floor in the final twenty minutes. Senior post Christie Shuffield also recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and gathering 12 rebounds. The Lady Eagles improved their record to 3-1 after a 68-58 win over Central Baptist College on Monday night. Ozarks led by only two points at halftime (32-30) but used a 11-0 run at the midway point of the second half to pull away from the Lady Mustangs. Two free throws by Thomas put the Lady Eagles up 50-45 at the 11:12 mark of the second half. Jenna Corbell followed with a three-point basket seconds later and Thomas then hit an inside shot to give Ozarks a 55-45 lead. Thomas would add a free throw to give Ozarks a 56-45 advantage. The Lady Eagles shot just 32 percent from the field in the game, but held Central Baptist College to a 28 percent shooting clip. Thomas and Shuffield each had 10 points to lead Ozarks in scoring. Shuffield had 14 rebounds in the game. Corbell had 16 rebounds and 8 points.
