Clarksville, Ark.-The Lady Eagles basketball team cruised to a 72-59 win over Central Baptist College (1-7) in non-conference action Monday night in Clarksville.

Four players for Ozarks (1-0) reached double figures and combined for 51 of the team’s 72 points in the team’s opening season win. Sophomore post Mandi Carter led the way with 15 points and junior forward Jenna Corbell followed with 13 points. Rachael Marble and Tiffany Villines scored 12 and 11 points, respectively. The inside duo of Carter and Corbell controlled the paint during the entire game and each recorded double-doubles. Carter snagged a game-best 13 rebounds and Corbell grabbed 12. The Lady Eagles had a 33-26 halftime advantage over the scrappy Lady Mustangs. Both teams struggled from the field in the first half of play, shooting a combined 26 percent from the field. The Lady Eagles’ stingy defense held CBC to a 28 percent shooting clip from the field in the game and forced 17 turnovers. Corbell had a team-best four steals. The Lady Eagles begin conference play on the road when they travel to Abilene, Texas, to face Hardin-Simmons University on November 29. Ozarks will then play McMurry University on December 1 in Abilene.
