Richardson, Texas-The Lady Eagles pulled within three points late in the second half but couldn?t get closer as Texas-Dallas gained a 62-49 American Southwest Conference win Monday night.
Ozarks (6-7, 4-6 ASC) trailed just 28-26 at the half after storming back from a 21-7 deficit at the mid-way point of the half. The Lady Eagles cut it down to 27-17 with 4:21 left in the half and then outscored Texas-Dallas (13-1, 9-1 ASC) 9-1 the rest of the way.
Ozarks eventually tied the game, 31-31, early in the second half on April Young’s three-pointer. Texas-Dallas would regain the lead, but Ozarks tied it, 35-35, with 13:17 remaining. The Comets built a five-point cushion only to see Sabrina Goddard score three straight points. With 3:43 left, Texas-Dallas held a 49-44 advantage, but Ozarks would cut the lead to three points. Following a Goddard inside shot with 1:57 left to bring Ozarks to within 52-48, the Lady Eagles would score only one more point while Texas-Dallas reeled off ten.
Young led Ozarks with 15 points.
Ozarks will host LeTourneau University January 12 and Texas-Tyler January 14.
