Lady Choctaws Score Four Times Second Half

Clinton, Miss.-Mississippi College scored four goals in the second half to break a 0-0 halftime game and earn a 4-0 American Southwest Conference win over the Lady Eagles Saturday in Clinton, Miss.

The Lady Eagles (2-5-0, 1-1-0 ASC) put on a solid defensive showing in the first half, shutting out the Lady Choctaws (2-3-0, 1-1-0 ASC) on the scoreboard. Ozarks, too, was unable to score in the first half. Mississippi College did post 23 shots in the first half, but Lady Eagle goalkeeper Morgan O’Neil stopped 11 of those attempts. Mississippi College’s offense finally starting connecting on its shots, scoring two goals 33 seconds apart in the 70th minute. The Lady Choctaws then took that momentum and scored in the 79th minute and 81st minute. Ozarks recorded five shots and three shots on goal. Alex Cannon tallied three shots in the match. O’Neil finished with 16 saves.

Ozarks will host McMurry University September 22 and Hardin-Simmons September 24. Saturday’s game against HSU can be heard on the web at www.kxio.nu.
