Lacey Phillips Named ASC Player of the Week

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks junior guard Lacey Phillips was named the American Southwest Conference East Division Women's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced Monday by ASC Media Relations Director Greg Weghorst.

The 5-foot-8 native of Clarksville, averaged 14.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 4.0 steals over two East Division games, including just missing a triple double in the Lady Eagles’ first-ever road win over Mississippi College Saturday. Phillips had a 12-point, 10-rebound, nine-assist effort to fuel a 67-62 win over Mississippi College. Thursday against No. 20 Louisiana College, Phillips drained two three-pointers, went a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line and scored 16 points. On the week, she shot 52 percent from the floor.

Phillips is averaging 9.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and a team-best 5.0 assists per game. She is tied for the team-lead in steals (2.3). For the season, she is hitting 83 percent from free throw line and 38 percent from the three-point line. In seven of her 13 games, she has made at least two three-pointers, including making five against Hendrix College November 22.

Phillips was named to the ASC All-East Division Honorable Mention Team and earned a spot on the East Division All-Freshman Team in 2008-09.

She is a graduate of Clarksville High School where she was named All-State her junior and senior season.

Ozarks (10-8, 6-7 ASC) will host East Texas Baptist University January 27.
