Clarksville, Ark.-U of O sophomore catcher Kelly Bennett was named American Southwest Conference East Division Hitter of the Week after leading the Lady Eagles to a 7-2 win over Arkansas Tech University February 20.
Bennett, a native of Bryant, went 2-for-3 from the plate and smashed the team’s first home run of the season to lead the Lady Eagles to a victory. Bennett was named ASC All-East Division honorable mention last season and finished second in the conference in home runs (2). Bennett ranked third on the team in batting (.343), hits (37), RBI (25), total bases (53) and on-base percentage (.418) last season. Bennett is a graduate of Bryant High School.
