Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks senior Kara Willbanks was named the American Southwest Conference Female Runner of the Week award, the ASC office announced Monday.
Willbanks, a native of Fort Smith, Ark., placed fourth overall at the Arkansas D-III Championships Wednesday night in Clarksville. She ran the 5K race in 21:24.20 and was again the team’s top finisher. Willbanks has been among the top runners at the Arkansas D-III Championships the past two years, including winning the individual title in 2012.
Ozarks will run in the ASC Championship this weekend in Abilene, Texas. Hosted by Hardin-Simmons University, the conference championships are set to run Saturday, November 2 at Sherrod Park. The men’s 8K event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the women’s 6K race is scheduled for a 9:15 a.m. start.
