Clarksville, Ark.-U of O junior guard Josh Joyner was named American Southwest Conference East Division men's basketball Player of the Week after leading the Eagles (5-4, 3-3) to a split in recent ASC play.
Joyner, a 6-3, 190-pound native of Little Rock, averaged 15.6 points and 4.6 rebounds in three games as the Eagles split a league Texas road trip and lost to Arkansas Tech on Dec. 30. Joyner shot 54 percent from the floor (19-of-35) over the holiday stretch, including a 10-of-12 performance for 22 points against Schreiner University on January 2. Joyner scored a team-best 14 points against Arkansas Tech and 11 points against Texas Lutheran on January 3. Joyner ranks second on the team in rebounds (6.1), assists (3.3) and is third in scoring (13.6). He went over 600 career points during the 94-87 win at Schreiner and is standing at 620 career points. He is a graduate of McClellan High School.
