Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks senior cross country runner Jeremy Provence was named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team.
Provence, from Winslow, Ark., caps a banner senior season with the award. In 2011, he earned American Southwest Conference Runner of the Week twice, ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete for men’s cross country, USTFCCCA All-Region and All-ASC First Team honors. Provence was the only men’s runner from the ASC to earn the USTFCCCA award. Provence finished second at the ASC championships and 11th at the NCAA III Regional Championships this year. He won two individual titles this season.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.30 or greater and placed in the top 35 at the NCAA Regional Championships. A total of 141 student-athletes represent the 80 institutions that compose the group.
Provence’s volunteer work includes working with area High School Track and Field programs as well as the University of Arkansas Invitational. He has been a member of the ASC All-Academic Team for three seasons.
He is a graduate of Mountainburg High School where he earned All-State and All-Conference during his prep career.
