Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks sophomore pitcher Jeffrey Works was named the American Southwest Conference East Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by ASC Media Relations Director Greg Weghorst.

Works, a native of Fordyce, Ark., tossed his second complete game in as many starts, this time in a 5-1 win in the series-opener against Schreiner University on Friday. The 5-foot-11, 160-pound right-hander scattered six hits and struck out five batters without issuing a walk during the nine-inning affair. Schreiner threatened to score in the seventh as one runner reached scoring position with no outs. However, Works induced a double play and then forced a ground out to keep the visitors off the board. His other complete game came a week earlier against Simpson College, also a win in which he allowed just one run.

In three appearances, Works is 2-0 with a 1.66 ERA. He has tossed 21.2 innings and struck out nine and allowed just three walks.

He is a graduate of Fordyce High School where he was named All-State his senior season.
