Clarksville, Ark.--University of the Ozarks junior left-handed pitcher Jedd Kirby was named American Southwest Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week after helping the Eagles (11-3, 0-0) get off to a good start in its three-win home series against Hardin-Simmons University over the weekend.
Kirby, a 5-10, 190-pound native of Heavener, Oklahoma, tossed a seven-inning, six-strikeout game to lift the Eagles to a 13-3 win in the series opener on Friday. Kirby allowed eight hits, two runs and one walk and improved to 3-1 on the mound for the season. Kirby owns a 3.10 ERA and a team-best 16 strikeouts in 29.0 innings of work.
