Howard Payne Completes Comeback Win

Brownwood, Texas- Marcus Aldaba gave Ozarks a 1-0 lead early in Saturday?s American Southwest Conference match, but Howard Payne scored three unanswered goals to earn a 3-2 win.

Aldaba netted his goal in the 7th minute, but the lead didn’t last long as Howard Payne (3-2-1, 1-1-0 ASC) scored the equalizer in the 26th minute. With the score tied 1-1 starting the second half, Howard Payne went ahead 2-1 in the 56th minute and added an insurance goal in the 74th minute. Ozarks (0-4-1, 0-2-0 ASC) wouldn’t go down easy as Shaun Keane connected on a header off a corner kick in the 82nd minute. David Cortes served the ball to receive the assist. The Eagles had scoring opportunities in the match from nine corner kicks, with five of those coming in the second half. Ozarks also created six shots in the second half. Cortes and Josh Duncan each had two shots in the match. Andrew Cummings started in goal for the Eagles and had ten saves.
