Clarksville, Ark.-Logan Hornback scored a pair of goals to help Ozarks snap a six-game losing skid and fuel the Eagles to a 3-0 win over East Texas Baptist University in American Southwest Conference play Saturday.
Hornback scored his first goal in the 26th minute on a header off a free kick from Tony Santoro. With the Eagles (4-10-0, 3-7-0 ASC) leading 1-0, Adrian Nunez punched one past the goalkeeper in the 44th minute. Nunez received the ball on a perfect pass from Andrew Sutton. Hornback helped the shutout stay intact in the 48th minute when he kicked away a ball near the goal on a Justin Bailey shot. Ozarks goalkeeper Neil Thompson tipped Bailey’s shot just enough to keep it from going in and Hornback cleared it from the area. Minutes later, Hornback rebounded a ball off an Ozarks’ shot in the 51st minute and drilled home his second goal of match. Ozarks produced a strong defensive effort, allowing just three shots on goal the entire game. East Texas Baptist falls to 1-10-0 overall and 1-7-0 in the ASC.
Thompson recorded his third shutout of the season and collected three saves.
Ozarks will face Texas-Tyler October 21 and Concordia University Texas October 23 on the road.
