Henson Picks Up Two Wins In Ozarks Sweep

Clarksville, Ark.-Freshman pitcher Stephany Henson gave the Lady Eagles a lift as she earned a pair of wins on the mound in Thursday's American Southwest Conference sweep against LeTourneau University.

<#IMAGE:1#>Ozarks (13-15, 5-9) won the first game 10-6 behind an eighth inning rally that saw Ozarks score four runs in the top half of the frame. With the score tied at 6-6, the Lady Eagles scored a momentum-changing four on three hits, while taking advantage of three LeTourneau (7-19, 0-10) errors. Stacy Simpson and Brooke Grice highlighted the eighth with back-to-back doubles. Chelsea Joslin homered in the fourth to increase Ozarks’ lead to 6-0. However, the Lady Jackets stormed back in the bottom of the sixth to tie the contest. Andrea Mitchell started the game and went five and one-third innings. Henson (8-4) came in relief and pitched two and two-third innings and accounted for one run. Kara Bartholomew went 4-for-5 and Stacy Simpson went 3-for-5 with 4 RBI. It was Joslin’s fifth home run of the season. In game two, Henson threw a two-hit shutout as the Lady Eagles took a 1-0 victory. A sacrifice RBI by Bartholomew scored Jessica Pianalto in the third, proving to be all Henson would need. The right-hander struck out three and did not issue a walk in seven innings of work. Jodie Clark went 2-for-2. The two teams square off Friday in a double-header beginning at 11:00 a.m.
