Clarksville, Ark.-Hendrix College overcame deficits at two different times in the game to pull out a 11-9 win over Ozarks Thursday in non-conference play.

Ozarks (12-21) knocked around Hendrix (17-16) starter Tyler Keever for eight hits and four runs. Chris Driedric opened the scoring with a solo home run over the right field fence in the first. Ian Bryan doubled in Mitchell Powers and Cory Briggs to make it 3-0. Ozarks final run came when Jacob Robbins had an RBI groundout. Hendrix then manufactured a run in the third, two in the fourth and one in sixth. Meanwhile, Ozarks wouldn’t score until the sixth when Jake West, Mitchell Powers and Chris Young each drove in runs. The lead didn’t last though. Hendrix posted four runs in the seventh to take a 8-7 advantage. Hendrix added two in the eighth to make it 10-7. Ozarks appeared to be mounting a comeback in the bottom of the eighth loading the bases on three straight singles with no outs but manufactured just one run. The Eagles again made things interesting in the bottom of the ninth when it got two runners on board with two outs. Mitchell Powers scorched one up the middle to score one and make the deficit 11-9. Hendrix ended the rally with a fly out to left field.

Brett Wood (3-2) labored six and one-third innings to receive the loss.

Powers paced Ozarks with a 4-for-6, 2-RBI performance. Briggs went 3-for-4 to tie the school’s all-time hit leader. West finished 3-for-6.

The Eagles will travel to Millington, Tennessee, for a three-game series against Maryville College April 17-18.
