Clarksville, Ark.-Jessalyn Halsted scored in the 29th minute on a penalty kick in what turned out to be the game-winning goal against LeTourneau University on Friday in Longview, Texas.
With the score tied 1-1, Halsted nailed her second penalty kick of the season to secure a 2-1 victory. The Lady Eagles improve to 6-6-4 overall and 5-6-1 in American Southwest Conference play. LeTourneau falls to 7-11-1 overall and 4-7-1 in league play. Ozarks will end the regular season when they travel to Marshall, Texas, to face East Texas Baptist on Saturday. The match starts at 5:00 p.m.
LeTourneau jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Erin Wait scored in the 4th minute. Ozarks, however, countered with a goal in the 12th minute after Emalee Pearson knocked one past the keeper. Halsted received the assist. It was Pearson’s second goal of the season. That would be all the Lady Eagles would need as they limited LeTourneau to two shots in the second half. Ozarks would end the match owning a 21-5 shots advantage. Amanda Bohon had a team-high five shots. Lori Langman had one save.
