Habeeb Kareem Named Conference Player of the Week

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks sophomore center Habeeb Kareem was named the American Southwest Conference men's basketball East Division Player of the Week after averaging 23.0 points and 6.0 rebounds and pushing the Eagles into sole possession of first place in the division standings.

Kareem, a 6-5, 250-pound native of Richmond, Texas, shot 9-of-10 from the floor and scored 23 points in Friday’s win over Schreiner, then came back against Texas Lutheran on Sunday to score another 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field. Kareem shot 70 percent from the field (17-of-24) and was 12-of-19 at the free throw line in Ozarks’ two weekend wins. Kareem in sixth in the league in scoring (19.0), fourth in rebounding (8.9) and seventh in field goal percentage (54%). He was named to the ASC East Division All-Freshman team and earned ASC honorable mention last season. He is a graduate of Bush High School.
