Clarksville, Ark.-Junior center Sabrina Goddard scored 24 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and was one of four players in double figures in the Lady Eagles 85-73 win over Texas-Tyler Saturday in American Southwest Conference play.
Ozarks, which won its second straight game, improves to 9-7 overall and 5-6 in the ASC. The Lady Eagles controlled the first half and built a 25-11 lead with 8:50 left on Goddard’s jumper. But Texas-Tyler (7-8, 5-5 ASC) shaved the deficit to 25-20 just two minutes later. Chelsea Glasscock drilled a three-pointer on Ozarks next possession and Lacey Phillips made a pair of free throws to make it 30-20 with five minutes left in the half. Ozarks would lead 37-31 at the half and then begin the second half on a 14-7 run behind three shots behind the arc. The Lady Patriots chiseled the deficit to 53-49 with 12:29 remaining in the game. But Goddard took control inside and scored ten points over the next five minutes to extend Ozarks’ lead to 67-55 with 7:48 left.
April Young pumped in 17 points, while Ashley Teague and Glasscock scored 12 and 11 points, respectfully.
Ozarks will travel to Pineville, Louisiana, to face Louisiana College January 20.
