Freshman C.J. Smith Nails Game-Winning Goal

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles (8-3-0, 4-1-0) picked up their fourth conference win of the year and completed their eighth shut out of the season with a 1-0 victory over East Texas Baptist in American Southwest Conference action Friday afternoon.

Freshman midfielder C.J. Smith (Jackson, MS) broke a scoreless match at the 60th minute when he ripped his first collegiate goal from twenty yards out. Smith, who took two shots in the match, found an opening through the middle of the Tiger defense and nailed the shot. The Eagles out shot the Tigers 18-8, with sophomore midfielder Daniel Faires (Springdale, AR) taking a team high five shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Chris Schultz (Coppell, TX) earned his seventh win and conference leading seventh shutout of the season. Schultz recorded seven saves in the match. The Eagles play host to LeTourneau University tomorrow at 3 p.m.
