St. Louis, Mo.- Fontbonne University came back from a 1-0 deficit to edge the Eagles 2-1 Saturday afternoon in St. Louis.
Ozarks (0-2-1) got on the board first when Travis Leach connected on a goal off a corner kick in the 29th minute. Josh Duncan served the ball to receive the assist. Fontbonne (4-0-1) was later awarded a penalty kick in the 36th minute to even the score at 1-1. The Eagles applied plenty of pressure on Fontbonne’s defense in the first half forcing five saves. Ozarks took nine shots in the first half.
Fontbonne took nine shots in the second half and scored the game-winner in the 76th minute. Fontbonne recorded 16 fouls in the match.
Freshman midfielder David Cortes took six shots, four of which were on frame.
Ozarks will travel to Texas to face Hardin-Simmons University September 14 and Howard Payne September 15.
