Flute and harp duo to perform “Medley Christmas”

Clarksville, Ark. -- Suite Elegante, Arkansas' premiere flute and harp duo, will present the concert titled "Medley Christmas" at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, in the University of the Ozarks' Walton Fine Arts Center.

The event is part of the university’s 2007-2008 Walton Arts & Ideas Series. Tickets are $12 each and can be purchased by calling 479-979-1346 or at the ticket office on the night of the performance.

Suite Elegante is made up of flutist Gwenn Higginbotham and harpist Pamela Gibson. The duo has traveled nationally and internationally for years, bringing their intimate and cozy style of musical performance to audiences around the globe. The concert will be comprised of traditional Celtic Christmas music guaranteed to get audience members into the Christmas spirit.

Higginbotham plays a gold Marmotzi flute. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Central Arkansas and has done graduate study at North Texas State University. She is a flute instructor at the UALR Community School of Arts.

Gibson plays a Dusty String walnut Celtic harp. She has studied harp with the UCA Community School of Music, and independently. Gibson has composed 10 original works for flute and harp and has arranged two books of traditional music for harp.
