Five Women’s Tennis Players Receive All-Conference Honors

Clarksville, Ark.-Five University of the Ozarks women's tennis players received American Southwest Conference All-Conference honors, it was announced Friday by ASC Media Relations Director Greg Weghorst.

Juniors Whitney Lewis and Kalli Simpson were named Honorable Mention All-Conference at No. 2 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Tara Richards and Stephanie Cloud earned Honorable All-Conference at No. 2 doubles. Simpson and Mollie Grace Wilkinson received Honorable Mention All-Conference at No. 3 doubles.

Cloud, a native of Grapevine, Texas, posted a 9-5 doubles record with Richards, the second most wins on the team. Cloud and Richards led the conference at No. 2 doubles in wins, and had the third-most overall wins in the league. She owned a 5-9 singles record, playing mostly at No. 3.

Lewis, a native of Hartman, Ark., went 8-8 at No. 2 singles, giving her the second-most wins on the team and gave her one of the top seasons in program history. Her eight wins ranked second in the conference among No. 2 singles players. Lewis posted a 2-4 doubles record.

Richards, a native of Henderson, Nev., went 10-6 in doubles play, including posting nine wins at No. 2 doubles. Richards and Cloud led the conference at No. 2 doubles in wins, and had the third-most overall wins in the league. She earned All-Conference honors in doubles in 2010. She finishes her career with 23 doubles wins.

Simpson, a native of Henderson, Nev., had a breakout season posting the most singles wins on the team with 10. Her 10 wins were also the most in Ozarks NCAA III era. Simpson played No. 6 singles most of the season and posted nine wins, easily the most at No. 6 in the conference. She ended the year with a 10-6 mark. Her ten overall wins placed her among the top-5 in the conference. She owned a 7-8 doubles record.

Wilkinson, a native of Greenwood, Ark., had a 9-8 doubles record, playing mostly at No. 3 with Simpson. Her nine doubles wins were third-most in the ASC. She ended the season with a 7-10 singles record.
