Clarksville, Ark.-A five-run second inning lifted the Lady Eagles to a 6-3 game two win over Hendrix College Wednesday night in Conway.

Ozarks (10-26) dropped game one 1-0 as Hendrix pitcher Ashley Halbert threw a three-hitter.

In game two, the Lady Eagles recorded 13 hits, with four of those coming in the second inning. Molly Bowman highlighted the offensive outburst with a two-run triple. Prior to Bowman’s triple, Amber Rollins, Shawnee Sorensen and Meghan Smith each drove in runs. With Ozarks leading 5-0, Hendrix (15-16) eventually scored three runs, but Ozarks added one run in the seventh to make it 6-3. Hendrix was fortunate to allow only one run as Ozarks recorded four hits in the frame. Rollins then closed out the bottom of the seventh to secure the win.

Kelsey Stephens finished 3-for-4. Rollins and Sorensen each had two hits. Rollins (9-14) received the win.

In game one, Hendrix scored the only run of the game in the sixth to earn the shutout. Paula Burr’s RBI single up the middle proved to be the game-winner as Ozarks couldn’t get its lead-off walk across the plate in the top of the seventh. Ali Mathis had all three hits for Ozarks. Rollins took the loss.

Ozarks will host Texas-Tyler in a four-game series this weekend. Saturday’s double-header has been designated as “Senior Day” for the Lady Eagles. Colbey Russo and Stephens will be honored prior to the first game.
