Finnell’s Hit Paves The Way For Eagles

Clarksville, Ark.- Robby Finnell's two-RBI single in the bottom of the seventh paved the way for a 5-3 win over Williams Baptist College on Friday at Lonnie R. Qualls Field.

<#IMAGE:1#>Trailing 2-1 after six complete innings, the Eagles (5-2, 0-0) started a rally in the seventh when John Glenn drew a walk with one out. Andrew Teaster followed with a hit to right field to put Glenn in scoring position. Bruce Cameron then promptly singled in Glenn to tie the score at 2-2. Finnell then knocked in two with a shot to left field to give Ozarks a 4-2 cushion. Williams Baptist (0-1, 0-0) scored once on two hits in the opening inning to take a 1-0 lead. They struck again in the top of the third when Federick Smith tripled in one run. Ozarks cut the deficit to 2-1 in the bottom half of the inning after Brad Broussard singled in a run. Williams Baptist threatened in the top of the eighth when Corey Woods knocked in a run. However, the Eagles answered with a run after David Smith singled in Cory Briggs. Curt Dixon (2-1) came in for Todd Koch in the seventh to receive the win. Dixon finished with two strikeouts. Koch pitched 6.0 innings and struck out three. Teaster, Cameron and Broussard all collected two hits. Ozarks will open American Southwest Conference play against Texas Lutheran University with a three-game series in Seguin, Texas, on February 23-24.
