Fall American Southwest Conference All-Academic Honors Announced

Clarksville, Ark.-30 University of the Ozarks student-athletes have been named to the 2011 fall American Southwest Conference All-Academic Team, it was announced by the league office January 19.

To be eligible for ASC All-Academic honors, student-athletes must have lettered in the 2011 season, be in at least their second academic year at their institution, and carry a career grade-point average of 3.00 or better.

The men’s cross country team placed nine athletes on the team: Ian Bryan, a junior management/business administration major from North Little Rock, Ark.; Tristan Cooper, a senior biology/environmental studies major from Jasper, Ark.; Zach Doty, a senior marketing/strategic communication major from Robinson, Texas; Matt Friant, a sophomore environmental studies major from Conway, Ark.; Max Hilgendorf, a sophomore strategic communication major from Fort Smith, Ark.; David James, a senior physical education major from Parthenon, Ark.; Freddy Prince, a sophomore undeclared major from Jonesboro, Ark.; Jeremy Provence, a senior physical education major from Mountainburg, Ark.; and Trent Ueunten, a junior environmental studies major from San Jose, Calif.

The women’s cross country team had four athletes on the team: Tadera Garland, a senior early childhood education major from Pelsor, Ark.; Samantha Sparks, a senior physical education major from Bella Vista, Ark.; Ashley Teague, a senior political science major from Lavaca, Ark.; and Kara Willbanks, a sophomore physical education major from Fort Smith, Ark.

The men’s soccer team placed ten athletes on the team: Josh Duncan, a sophomore physical education major from Little Rock, Ark.; Tanner Holman, a senior English major from Mesquite, Texas; Logan Hornback, a senior accounting major from Arlington, Texas; Travis Murnan, a senior mathematics major from Tulsa, Okla.; Adrian Nunez, a sophomore physical education major from Flower Mound, Texas; Christian Ridings, a senior physical education major from El Dorado, Ark.; Guido Salas, a senior marketing major from Houston, Texas; Tony Santoro, a senior mathematics major from Houston, Texas; Patrick Shoulders, a sophomore marketing major from Fayetteville, Ark.; and Neil Thompson, a senior radio/television/video major from Ovilla, Texas.

The women’s soccer team placed seven athletes on the team: Rebecca Groff, a senior physical education major from Prattville, Ala.; Seanan Heaney, a junior marketing major from Derry City, UK; Abby Kern, a sophomore art major from Wichita, Kans.; Lacey Mainer, a senior physical education major from Branch, Ark.; Morgan O’Neil, a junior environmental studies major from Marion, Ill.; Monica Seiler, a sophomore early childhood education major from Rogers, Ark.; and Kaitlyn Williams, a senior strategic communication major from Clarksville, Ark.
