ETBU Women Net Second Win Over Lady Eagles

Marshall, Texas-The Lady Eagles came out the gate on fire only to see East Texas Baptist University storm back to earn its second American Southwest Conference win over Ozarks with a 72-50 victory Thursday night.

Ozarks (10-10, 6-8 ASC) opened the game with a 19-9 advantage and then extended the lead to 24-14 on Ashley Hipps’ three-pointer at the 9:20 mark. The Lady Eagles pounded the ball inside to Taylor Farmer who scored 14 first half points. But the Lady Eagles scored just four points in the remaining nine minutes of the first half and East Texas Baptist (12-8, 7-7 ASC) went into intermission with a 38-28 lead.

The Lady Tigers then grabbed 15 offensive rebounds in the second half and let the lead slip below ten points only four times, all of which came early on. An East Texas Baptist three-pointer moved the Lady Tigers ahead 60-44 with 8:01 remaining in the game.

Farmer finished with 23 points and six rebounds. Kindra Davis had a team-high 12 rebounds for Ozarks. Hipps had 11 points. East Texas Baptist ended the game with a 54-34 rebound advantage.

East Texas Baptist defeated the Lady Eagles January 12 in Clarksville.

Ozarks will travel to Texas-Tyler for an ASC game Saturday.
