Clarksville, Ark.-East Texas Baptist University pulled out a 84-71 win over the Eagles Monday night in American Southwest Conference play.
The Tigers (3-1, 2-0 ASC) fought off each Eagles’ rally behind an impressive 30-of-55 (54%) shooting effort from the field. East Texas Baptist led 45-33 at the half and then jumped ahead by 16 points at the 15:26 mark of the second half. The Eagles (3-2, 1-1 ASC) did cut the deficit to ten five minutes later, but the Tigers continued to shoot the ball well from the floor to maintain the lead. Ted Beard’s bucket got Ozarks within 66-58, but the Tigers answered and moved ahead by ten points with under a minute to play.
Ozarks hit 26-of-67 (38%) from the floor and 14-of-25 (56%) from the free throw line in the game. Andrew Cummings paced Ozarks with 15 points. Beard and Ricky Allen each had 14 points.
Ozarks will host Hardin-Simmons Thursday and Texas-Dallas Saturday.
