ETBU Closes Out Lady Eagles In Second Half

Clarksville, Ark.-The East Texas Baptist University Lady Tigers pulled away late in the second half to secure a 96-83 win over the University of the Ozarks in American Southwest Conference action on Thursday night.

Ozarks (8-8, 7-6) held the lead for the majority of the first half behind the strong inside play of Mandi Carter. Carter scored 16 of her 20 points in the first half, but it was East Texas Baptist (10-5, 7-5) that held a 45-44 advantage at intermission. Second half play saw the Lady Tigers shoot 55 percent from the field while Ozarks went just 16-of-42 (38%) from the floor. Erica Enek’s layup with 8:08 left got Ozarks within 76-70, however, the Lady Tigers then went on a 20-13 run to finish the game. East Texas Baptist shot 52 percent from the field in the game while the Lady Eagles hit 45 percent. East Texas Baptist out rebounded Ozarks 47-36. Eneks led Ozarks with 23 points. Both Eneks and Carter had 8 rebounds. Olivia Fisher scored 12 points, LaTisha McCalister contributed 11 points and Lori Moon added 10. Moon recorded a team-high 7 assists and 4 steals. Ozarks will host LeTourneau on Saturday.
