Jackson, Miss.-Tyler Erickson and Ian Bryan combined for a four-hit shutout in the University of the Ozarks season-opening 5-0 win against Huntingdon College Friday afternoon in the Millsaps College Invitational.

Erickson (1-0) tossed five innings as the starter to receive the win and Bryan followed with four shutout innings to receive the save. Erickson fanned five and allowed just three hits and one walk. Erickson received run support in the third inning when Nick Brill drove in a pair of runs with a single. Brill would eventually score later in the frame on John Singler’s fielder’s choice. Ozarks would add to its lead in the seventh when both Sam Shook and Brill recorded RBI singles.

Erickson did not allow a hit until the fourth inning, both of which came with two outs. Huntingdon (0-1) did manage to get a runner to second base in the fifth, but Erickson fashioned a groundout and a strikeout to end the scoring threat. Bryan followed with four effective innings as he allowed just one hit and three base runners to earn the save. Bryan did not issue a walk.

Brill finished 3-for-4 with 3 RBI. Shook ended 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs. Peyton Johnigan went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Heavy rain is expected in the area Sunday, and as a result Ozarks will play a double-header tomorrow.

The Eagles will take on Millsaps College at 11:00 a.m. and then play Rhodes College at 5:00 p.m. at Mississippi College.
