Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks senior forward Eloy Salgado was named the American Southwest Conference men?s soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
The 5-foot-7, 130-pound Mansfield, Texas, native provided the drama in Ozarks’ come-from-behind win over Westminster College on Saturday (Aug. 31), tying the game 1-1 and sending play into overtime with a goal in the 89th minute. Salgado then nailed a clutch golden goal in the 104th minute to push Ozarks to the win. Salgado was efficient in the match taking four shots, two of which ended up in the back of the net.
Salgado was named to the All-District Team during his prep career at Mansfield High School.
Ozarks (1-0-0) will travel to Sewanee, Tenn., to play in the Kyle Rote Jr. Invitational September 7-8.
