Clarksville, Ark.-The high-powered offensive attack of the East Texas Baptist Tigers led to a 19-2 win over the Eagles in American Southwest Conference play on Friday afternoon.
The Tigers (16-11, 4-6) started strong from the start taking a 7-0 lead after one inning of play while pounding out 21 hits in the win. East Texas Baptist held a 17-0 advantage going into the bottom of the sixth before Ozarks (12-15, 2-8) would get on the board. Anthony Brandon slapped a single through the left side to knock in Caleb Hilton and give the Eagles their first run of the game. Hilton would later blast his second home run of the season with a 370-foot shot over the left field fence to make the score 17-2. Ozarks had nine hits in the contest, with Justin Brown leading the charge with two singles. East Texas Baptist’s Trey Luster had a monster game at the plate, going 5-for-6 with two home runs and 8 RBI. Tyler Gideon (0-1) received the loss after pitching one and one-third innings. Ozarks continues their three-game series with East Texas Baptist tomorrow in two seven-inning games beginning at 12 p.m.
